For the first year subsea inspection at the West of Duddon Sands Offshore Wind Farm substation,
DONG awarded SubC Partner the contract to execute it via ROV (remote operated vehicle).
No other company had deployed successfully before ROV on this wind farm. Part of the scope of work had also been considered impossible to execute by other contractors via ROVs, such as the cathodic protection measurement.
SubC Partner took up the challenge and deploy its latest ROV, the V8 M500, fitted with all tools required for the project. As supporting vessel, the Ocean Dragon from Ocean Marine Services was chosen, due to its track record in the Irish Sea and strong performances.
The team mobilized in November, and managed to carry out the complete scope of work in the planned time. The project presented several challenges but the teams onsite managed to overcome them swiftly and safely, finalising successfully all activities.
The ability to execute this project at this time of the year, with very low visibility and considerable adverse weather, showed how versatile and powerful is an ROV setup.
